I have a 2002 f-250 with a 7.3 power stroke. On dewy mornings after i let the glow plugs warm, crank up and the engine and it surges for afew seconds then stops. Just had the crank and cam sensor replaced, could there be a problem there?

When you say it stops after a few seconds, do you mean the engine or the surging? There is no crank sensor on these, only a cam sensor. Does it smoke when it first starts? These had problems with the wiring plug at the valve cover gasket. You may have 1 or 2 bad glowplugs. When the WTS lamp goes out the G/P's stay on for another minute, you can watch your voltmeter, it will rise when they go off. Try waiting 30 seconds after the light goes out before cranking, it may solve your issue. Kevin

The engine stops surging afew seconds after start up. I'll check the glow plugs, also the sensor the is in the air intake piping was unpluged, could this be a factor?
