I have an 81 Chevy Caprice Clasic Diesel 5.7L My first question: Loss of power and LOTS of blue smoke... why? Is it the injector pump? Second: How would I time this engine? I know about the marks on the injector pump, but what about the engine it self? If it needs to be timed... not sure. ------------------------- If life gives you lemons,.. Throw them back!

Ok thanks... about the several things? What sort of things?... I'm still abit new to diesel mechanics.

Maybe I over estamated the blue smoke, but it does seem excessive.

Someone also mentioned that this year injector pump, had problems with some little "ball" inside.
Know anything about this?

Maybe you can tell, I would like to avoid a rebuild if possable.(another truck needs that) Easy and Cheap is the key here.
