Hi-

I have a 96 6.5td that runs great, sounds like I have the only one in existance. the issue i have is hot restarts after an extended soak 15-90 minutes. I have found a service bulliten that says i need to let the engine idle for 5-10 minutes then shut it down. the cause they say is that the fuel viscosity is too low after the soak to create enough pressure to "pop" the injectors- makes sense. this is a real pain in the butt. does anyone know if there is another fix or some aftermarket something that cures this. about the only thing i have had some mixed success with is useing a lot of fuel addative. it is not the PMD i have one on the pump and one remote and both have the same issue of the hot restart-long crank....

Unfortunatelly, hot restart issues point to the IP itself most of the time unless there is another contributing factor. How many miles do you have on your pump? Any other issues, i.e. codes, etc?

it is a rebuild pump and has maybe 30k on it. i would hate to think that i spent $1000 for a rebuild pump and it is going bad already. i think i am going to try another PMD. when i used the pmd on the pump, it would occaasionally do this. like after driving all night @80mph.. so I remoted mounted a new PMD and have not had any problems this summer, well until now. without fail if the truck soaks for 15-90 minutes it is a real bear to start. like a 20 second or so crank. after it cools off it takes maybe .5 second crank to start it.... i am just stumped on this-esp after reading the GM service bulliten ....

oh i forgot, no codes or other factors.. i did try something, when it was acting up i poured some cool water on the pmd and whamo!! it fired right up. i am thinking PMD more and more..

Thats a good thing. A couple hundred compared to a "C" note is always a good thing, right? Unfortunatelly the PMD's made today aren't any better than they were in 1994. They will not tolorate heat and as an electronic component I still can't understand why GM put them where they did anyway. Poor engineering.
