got a 4cyl ford lehman marine engine, no timing marks on the crank pulley and no access to the timing marks on the flywheel, cuz of location and paint. anyone got any ideas on how to get the 22* BTDC?

Pull injector, find TDC the best way you can. Mark pulley at tdc. Now measure the exact diameter of the pulley. Divide by 360. This is the dimension for each degree around the front pulley. Either mark it out from 0 to 22, or just measure it out by your dimension times 22, and put a mark. Not highly scientific. Gets you within a degree or two. But it does work. I had to use this methid on a trojan loader with a perkins diesel. No timing marks, and a shop full of inexperienced mechanics had worked on it for 2 weeks. 3 hours later it ran, and the owner said it hadn't run that good in years. I'd rather be lucky than good.
