I have a six Cylinder John Deere Motor (6359A) and would like to know if anyone has information or experience on how to install a standard transmission (e.g., GM 5-speed) for a power unit. There is no clutch currently on the engine. I need to know what size transmission would bolt on. Also what type of clutch assembly, bell housing, fly wheel would be needed? Or are there other transmissions and option available at reasonable cost. I would like to use this motor to power a sawmill.

Would my best bet be to go with Rockford over-centre clutch?

I appreciate your help.

Thanks a lot

No answers yet? I would call rockford clutch, or twin disc, or someone like that. You won't find an automotive trans that will fit, unless you are fortunate enough to find one that came out of an automotive application. Your overcenter Rockford would be your best option.
