Diesel Talk
Hi

I am new to the site and hoping someone may be able to guide me:

We have a backup generator on site for all electrics etc. which has been sat dormant for the last eight to nine years. I now have the task of trying to bring it back to life, I have no intention of trying to start it until I have given it a service ( my experience is competent car mechanic ), fluid change etc.

I am quietly confident it will start with a bit of persuasion yet would be grateful for any advice if anyone has experience with this type of engine on what I need to look for in relation to servicing and if there is any particular area that might require specific attention before trying to start it up.

I have looked around for service manuals with no success and besides the "Perkins" website have not found anywhere else I can go that may help with parts etc. So any area of knowledge or history on this type of engine would be great! Am based in Lincolnshire.

The generator has the following details on its plate:

PERKINS 3154214

Engine No. 4959813B

Thanks in advance for your time and any assistance.
