So I just typed this all out and lost it so I'm going to simplify this. What is the optimal weight and brand of oil for a perkins t6.3544 engine running in nova-Scotia Canada. Ambient temperatures that in runs in range between 0 Celsius and 35 celcius but most times it's atleast above 10c. The current oil I'm using which is 15w 40 from John Deere is volitizing off and going out my crank vent way too fast. I expect some amount of vaporization of oil but this is too much to be normal. The engine itself was sent for repairs in the winter to fix the valve guides and whatever oil they put in lasted a long time before going down at all. Engine has no symptoms of any problems except the drop in oil level after moderate to heavy load. This engine runs an irrigation water pump so depending on the day it can be running at 1500 rpm just doing some small watering or 2400 pumping 1200gpm to multiple fields. Visible blobby is basically the same as all my other diesel engines besides the oil vapor. Thanks for any help!
