smileGreetings; I new and need some desperate help; I have a 1999 chevy 3500 4X4 turbo diesel. I pull up to 9,000lb trailer and I plow snow with a heavy Boss plow. Plus I use it everyday/ until recently. It started a month ago when I was driving into town it just up and quit. I was close to our chevy dealer and they looked it over. The Mechcanic told me the pump mounted driver went bad. So he replaced with a relocate PMD/FSD and cooler. I got the truck back went to go home and before I got out of the parking lot the check engine light came on. Back to the dealer, where the mechcanic put it on the scaner and told me the codes showing were that it needed the turbo boost sensor and the Map sensor. Mechanic replaced them and reset codes. I headed home again got almost there and the check engine light came back on lost power and truck begain to belch heavy black smoke. Back to dealer again. Mechanic said he would just have to keep replacing stuff until he finds problem. I took truck back home and started trying to figure it out on my own. I checked the Vacum at the pump it was around 25 to 30. I then checked it at the turbo boost sensor it was 20. I also checked the wastegate valve it seemed free when engine was off, when engine was on it was stiff. I also checked oil presure was around 15psi at idle and 40 aound 2000 rpms. Fuel pressure is between4and 5psi this coming from up pump. Turbo spins freely, air filter is new. I did find that the cross over pipe was blown out on the left side up near header, So I replaced it thinking that could be the problem. Still does the same thing. No modification except for the PMD/FSD relocated with a #9 resistor. Truck only acts up when pulling mytrailer, snow plow on, heavy loads, or going up long hill. I am at a loss I just do not seem to know what to check now. Plus I do not want to take it back to the dealer. I already gave them over 3,000 already. Please help .Garageman1955 By the way truck has 106,000miles now. My e-mail nhose@zitomedia.net

I think it on the upper part of the intake manifold. If not look on the boost pipe going to the intake.

Sounds like air in fuel system (air leak) or rail pump break down due to wires or clogging with dirt. 1st I would spend $4 on in-line fuel filter & put it between rail pump & tank. Use a clear fuel filter so as to see if there is dirt in tank.
