I have a 1998 savanna 215k I had a no start problem other day.It was the 3rd lift pump. Its running again but for over 100k it has a throttle peddle like a toggle switch no matter how careful you are on flat hiway you are either gain speed or if you back off the peddle just a little its like you let off completly. It has never stalled ,skipped,or done anything like all the others that post.I have the original injecter pump. What is the big box unit attched to the peddle.Could that be the problem?Does it have a throttle position sensor? And could that be it? I've been to dealers .I give up on them.It has always run perfect other than the toggle switch throttle.

And i forgot to add that on rare occasion when left in park idleing for no reason engine will race big time on its own until you hit the peddle then all is fine.

Sounds like an optical sensor problem, or the pcm(the black box on the side of the pump) is bad. In either case with the miles I would reccomend a new high pressure pump. The fact that it is still original is a miracle, those things are good for 100k tops. But proper diagnostic routines should be ran. Oh by the way dealeships neve have been able to work on gm diesels, guess they can't swap from gas to diesel.
