I have a 1994 GMC Topkick with 3116 cat engine. My problem is turning the key
off does not kill the engine any suggestions????

there is a shut off solenoid on the back end of the governor. where the wires hook to it, there is a red button there push it and that should shut down the engine.

check to make sure you have power to that solenoid. not very likely that is became disconnected from the rack, but you never know bout that either, it is a '94. check the wiring at the solenoid as catmech mentioned to make sure they are snug on the solenoid and that they are plugged into the harness.

Hello I am experiencing the same problem with my 1993 gmc top kick 3116 cat engine I have checked fuses consulted cat dealer replaced fuel shut down solenoid and am completely stumped. Side note prior to this happening the truck would stay running if you turned the ignition off with the lights still on turn the lights off the engine would then turn off as well ... Now nothing it just stays running please suggest away thanks
