I have a 2000 12.7 500hp Detroit that had 50psi oil pressure while driving and 25psi when idle. I replaced the injectors and changed the oil this weekend.
Started the engine to check for leaks and oil pressure is 15psi with low oil pressure warning. I replaced the oil pressure sensor and no change. I replaced the oil pump and still no change. No evidence of bearing wear in the oil pan. Engine has 800,000 miles and about 300,000 miles on inframe by W. W. Williams. Can anyone help with this? I installed a manual gauge and it is reading 20 psi at idle and 25 psi at 1500 rpms.

When I read the title of your post and the beginning of your second sentence, I thought of fuel getting into the oil and thinning it. I thought maybe the injectors were improperly installed. I have experience with cooked O-rings on the injectors. But then I read that you changed the oil. That can't be the problem.

Only one thing comes to mind. The jake brakes didn't seat properly when you reinstalled them. High-pressure oil goes to the jakes.

I just got done working on a 12.7 for same issue. High mileage, 13 oil psi at idle with engine at temp. No material or debris found in oil pan but I did drop the mains to inspect the bearings and found high wear. Also found scoring on the oil pressure relief valve piston indicating that it might be hanging up. Replaced all bearings, relief and regulator. Fixed the issue with low oil pressure.
