I have read many messages regarding the 6.2 diesel not wanting to start when warm. I bought a 1983 GMC Stepside with the 6.2 diesel and am experiencing samiliar problems. After talking to a few diesel mechanics and 2 GMC auto dealers without getting any good answers, I decided to do some research. I found an article in Mitchells regarding this issue and it appears that GMC issued a Technicial Bulletin in about 1988 or 1989, I don't remember right now, but I have a copy of the article at home. The article indicated that the inhibitor swithch should be changed with one that does not have a sensor. The article even gives the part number.
I purchased the part, cost was about $32.11. Now my problem is that I can't find where it goes. It is about the size of a quarter and appears that it should go into either the head or block. When I picked up the part, I asked to parts manager at the GMC Dealer but he had no idea where it should go. I asked the Service Manager and he didn't even know the GMC put a diesel in the 1983 Stepside.
Can anyone help me and tell me where the inhibitor switch goes. From the looks of the part, it is just a screw out of the old and a screw in of the new along with attaching the wires.

If anyone whats a copy of the article give me your e-mail address and I will send you a copy.

Thanksconfused
