My 1996 6.5 started stalling and would cut out. It would go for a week and run fine. I took it to the Chevrolet dealership and they said the lift pump was bad. They quoted me 375.00 to fix it. I ordered the same part # they told me needs replaced and put the lift pump on myself. Ran fine for a few days and now it's stalled out once and hick-ups from time to time. I bought this truck new and the injector pump has been replaced twice. What else could it be?

The best way is if you can start the engine and then crack the injection lines that go to each cylinder one at a time and wait to tighten it until the bubbles are gone.

The incline must've been steep enough and long enough to run it outta fuel and the pump was just air locked. I took the end hose off of the pump towards the filter and cycled the pump a couple times and it worked. thanks.

There is an electronic timing element inside the injection pump that controls injection pump operation. It is a common item that fails often and somewhat regularly. I can't remember the actual technical name for that part, but any reputable pump service station (other than GM) knows those pumps well, and that they are JUNK. It is a cause for intermittent stalling and performance issues that cannot be explained by any other mechanical failure.
