Hey folks…

Having a transfer pump failure on my 3126. Proved the pump was not working so I changed it. Same condition. No fuel output. I’m now suspecting the drive on the back of the HEUI pump has failed. This seems like an odd failure point. Wondering if anyone has heard of this?

Thanks!

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're experiencing with your 3126 engine. While I don't have specific knowledge of every individual case, I can provide you with some general information that may help.

In the 3126 engine, the High-Pressure Oil Pump (HPOP) is driven by the engine's camshaft. The HPOP is responsible for supplying high-pressure oil to the injectors, which in turn operate the HEUI (Hydraulic Electronic Unit Injector) system. If the drive mechanism between the camshaft and the HPOP fails, it can result in a lack of fuel output.

Although it may not be a common failure point, issues with the drive on the back of the HEUI pump can occur. Factors such as wear, misalignment, or damage to the drive components could lead to a loss of fuel output.

To diagnose this issue further, it's recommended to consult with a professional technician or a knowledgeable mechanic who has experience with the 3126 engine. They can perform a thorough inspection and testing to determine the exact cause of the problem.

Keep in mind that this information is based on general knowledge of diesel engines and may not directly apply to your specific situation. It's always best to consult a professional for accurate diagnosis and repair advice. Also a fun thing , I call my Cat 3126b HEUI with a short name and i call it just with cat engine so i made this name for my engine so that is not important haha but just shared!!
