Hello all
I am currently in the process of restoring a 1956 chevy wagon for use as a daily driver. I choose the chevy for it's widely avalable and inexpensive parts. It currently has the straight six motor. I am going to keep the six as I restore the rest of the car but plan on installing a diesel power plant in the future. I have seen the nissan six cylinder (LD 28 I believe) and mercedes five cylinder (300D) motors in the junk yard and believe that they may be suitable for my aplication. My question is are theese suitable, are parts avalable inexpensivly, and what problems may I encounter in this swap? Also any suggestions on other suitable engines would be apreciated.
rite now I am in the planing stages. I would most likely purchase a doner car for all the parts. And may even make my own biodiesel.
This car will be my driver for the rest of my life or untill it is outlawed.
any comments would be greatly apreciated.
Thanks Dawger
