I have a client of mine that has a 2007 Freightliner Step Van. I changed the oil and filter myself on Dec 10th 2010 and it had about 112000 miles on it then. It now has about 122,000 miles on it and it has lost a total of 10 quarts of oil during that time. I used Cam2 15w40 oil with the same API certification as Rotella. (CI-4) There are no external oil leaks other than normal seepage and creep from others adding oil with some spillage. Where is all this oil disappearing? Does this engine have any common causes like a blown / bad turbo seal? Give me some direction. I have been fixing cars 35 years but I have not been around diesels much. It is not overheating. Thanks.
