I am looking to power a new 30ft fast fishing boat in the UK. The budget is 'tight'. One option has been to marinise used GM V8 diesel engines imported from the USA and Japan It has been suggested that I may be able to buy a new engine more cheaply in the USA even allowing for carriage across the pond.

Has anyone any experience of marinising this block - or indeed any other block capable of giving me 300hp - and any suggestion where I might get the best deal from please, both for engine and a marinising kit. I am aware that a swedish company does this already, but their prices are out of my reach.

Thanks in advance
