im dealing with a px8 engine that has a flutter at high rpms (lowest rpm its done it at is around 2,000) this is a common rail engine. I checked the fuel system for air leaks, tested gear pump pressure. Also tested the return amounts from the rail regulator, injectors and high pressure fuel pump. All the results were within spec. Also test charge air cooler system, and found no leaks. This truck has an Allison trans if that matters. This problem started about 6 months ago and the filters have been changed with no avail. The problem has been getting worse as time goes on.

low fuel pressure code ( inactive )can cause this also if you have pacbrakes Regards David

1.Whats the year Is it CM2150 or newer
2. High mileage
3.did you inspect the head of the hpfp(high pressure fuel pump) known issues of scoring and sticky plungers
4.electric lift pump operational
5. run unit on road test and see if the pressure relief valve is hotter than ail if it is then fuel is by passing back to tank (if going on for a long time this valve will be rusty looking) or use iniste and perform fuel leakage test and watch for psi drop
