Im getttin started on my 12.7 ddecIII , ive got the part numbers from you and they are these 23533204 cyl kits, r23525526 cam, and r5237014 inj Would you buy from detroit or after market? ive looked at some PAI kits, i know its a persons preference on which to use , just askin. hope i dont have to pay core charges. have you found a good turbo yet? this engine will be out of the truck, just because the rear housing is leaking, i dont think ill use the detroit sealer they use, cause it leaks on all my trucks, any idea what the inj height is for that cam? when i asked dd about that cam they couldnt find it yet , oh yeh i got to get the ecm worked on to , ill send it off while im buildin the hog, i should be alright with out enlarging the cam bolt hole on this one, right ? its in a97 but it is a dd reman dated 2002. thanks for all, have a good day, oh yeh any help is always appeciated.

i would think this engine already has the big cam bolt..the cam is just a 700 hp 12.7 marine cam, sometimes out of stock have to order..inj. height 81mm.intake .010,exhaust .028..i have had good luck with both DD parts and federal mogal-FP for diesel...the 4100 garrett works well but prefer the B-W 177287 with modifed cold side housing, spools quicker,10-15 lbs more boost, and up .2 mpg.only had it for a couple of months but very pleased at this point...good luck hope i could help..

What kind of modifying of the cold side is there? hope to buy these parts without the core charges. does this combination make any kind of fuel mileage? i know , if u want to play u got to pay somewhere, right? ive heard you say about rpm getting to 2800, wow thats tight, i would think the life of the beast would be shortend quite a bit , is this combo a good everyday work combo for a o/o? thanks for any help, have a good day

the turbo is new no core needed..B-W changes the discharge flange so the only thing different is the oil outlet tube bolts are 3/8 not 5/16 you have to drill the flange..if you have waste gated turbo now this turbo will be shorter on exhaust flange end -about 2 inches...also air intake is 5 1/2 inches...erich at SS60PD has this turbo avalible..every time you up HP you give up some life..ran mine at 1000 HP to ground and 1500HP on special occasions for 580000 miles before teardown for counterbore coolant leak..raised liner protrusion to .006 no more issues yet...just because engine can make this HP doesnt mean you run all day like this ..this is why YOU control the throttle pedal...2800 rpm willnot hurt anything..have run mine 4000 on many occasions for short times when racing..mileage directly connected to right FOOT..use 1000 horses feed 1000 horses...use 500 horses feed 500 horses..its all up to you..

long winded answer sorry,,,i average 5.2 mpg running southern tier NY to I90 area back roads stop, go,thru little towns so on...takes 1 3/4 hrs to go 70 miles one way,,oh yeah pulling a dump bucket grossing 102000 to 110000 yeah NY has overweight permits lucky us...on big road 80000 with bucket 6 mpg...on big road flatbed or dry van 6.8 mpg...very seldom over 65 mph..depends on headwinds and traffic mostly..with more HP your driving habits have to change you will learn to roll into throttle not slam it down..very seldom need more than 1/2 throttle in low side of tranny,,or high side unless running real heavy..mpg is directly connected to driving habits...do you need to drag race off every stop lite just because you can..or can you show some responsibility and do it only when needed..good luck.. hope i could help ..

. The only code you might get would many a high temp light when on a hard pull due to water temp getting up.that is just temperary as the light will go out when temp decreases.A code will be stored in the ecmmemory recording the event. other than that on occasion there shouldn't be any.

I can say after having Erich's programing done, I have no flashing CEL/SEL lights, strange computer problems or glitches or codes. Just pure driving enjoyment! Hope this helps.

Grampa, I've gotta 05 ddec v, s60, 14L with 800k+ miles, RTLO 16813 rated to 1850 ft lbs., with 3.70's. I usually gross 65-75k with a lowboy. Still a very solid engine. What parts combo would u suggest? Turbo, injectors, intake, exhaust manifold, cam? I'm an O/O and I work all 48, so I need a workable power range not a monster like u got! I'm headed to DD in a week to have a dyno run, overhead, and injectors checked, but if I have to change my injectors, atleast 1 that I know of, Id like to go ahead and start putting a solid combo together every chance I get. Thank you for your time.

ive got a 14l hk egr deleted 78/132 cat style fulltilt manifold turbo 1130 cam had 7821 cam advanced by Troy Perkins his tune ran like raped ape but had a rattle due to timing being advanced thought i had a intake valve not seated so i pulled head and took it to machine shop no problem found at this time i noticed thermal coating burnt off all pistons. truck has always made 45 to 50 plus psi manifold pressure called leon he said probably a timing issue sent ecm to him for a tune he also stated 7821 inj was smaller than 5915 adviced to put 5915 in at this time and he done tune and bought his version of 171702 turbo with 11 blade wheel truck has never ran good since. not saying anything about Leons work ive had it tuned by 3 other guys still its a slug high manifold psi low power poor fuel economy.
last gentleman said use 3558 cam and 7014 injectors or bigger im looking for 750hp or so on the ground and fuel economy
Is the cam timing trick good ?? this is also a compact gear train engine ddec 4
previous set up:
78/132 cat style turbo
7821 injectors
1130 cam offset keyway advanced one tooth (Troy Perkins) trick ??
full tilt manifold
8"pipes

my current setup:
80/145 turbo cat 6" inlet
5915 injectors
1130 cam stock timing
full tilt manifold
8' pipes
