Summer temperatures in Perth average 35-40C. Boat engine box temperatures reach 60C. After ½ hour or so the Vetus M3.09 oil warning buzzer was sounding on tick-over when using the recommended oil. I fitted a gauge and found that the usual 45+ PSI was dropping to 18PSI or less on tick-over when normal running temperature was reached. I queried this with the Vetus, Holland technical department and received a rude email in reply telling me to look at the owner’s manual. I already had and it says nothing of use, just that 15W 40 is OK up to 35C. What do we do above 35C, away from the frozen Polders?

The answer in Australia is to use Penrite HPR Diesel 20W 60. For friends in hot places outside Oz, you will need to use this same sort of grade in an equivalent high quality brand. The oil pressure is now fine.

'I had hundreds of "hits" on your website which generated 5 or 6 inquiries from all over the world; Germany, The Philippines, Korea, Sweden, and Spain. I sold all 3 of my engines to a buyer from South Korea. Your website was invaluable to me in selling these engines; no other ads that I ran produced any inquiries.'

'Just sold a Deutz engine via DieselEngineTrader.com. Great!'

'The engine was on other sites, but we received the most calls from DieselEngineTrader.com. We sold it to the first caller-from DieselEngineTrader.com. Also, there was a waiting list on the engine if the first sale fell through! Thanks for the great service!'

Fran Trapp, South Carolina, USA
