does anyone know what the psi rating is for the compression on a '81 1.6 deisel non turbo? i have one that needs a inj pump ,i parked it not long after i rebuilt the motor, when the pump went bad, back in '96. now i'm trying tosee if it has good compression , but the books i have don't tell me.

sorry i don't have your specs but i'm a heavy diesel tech. if it hasnt ran since '96 the rings may not be seatet well any more due to thicken oil in the ring pack. but i'll tell you its proably fine, its a good engine and you said it's rebuilt. if you want to be very carful than pour marvel mystery oil or automatic trans fluid in the cyl. to loosen the rings and rotate the engine with the nozzles out. note if started after this proceedure i did not ruin your motor the smoke will go away give it time.
