stumbling engine black smoke

Hi ,

can anybody help diagnose a problem?
I have a Peugeot expert van year 2010 ,it has a replacement 2ltr ford zetec diesel engine. the problem is this
From a cold start engine fires up first time no strange sounds runs beautiful , if you rev her no black smoke just runs lovely. when you start to drive engine begins to stumble and can take no more than 1500 revs before asking for a new gear if you ignore the stumble and force the issue the engine makes a whooshing sound and on extreme occasions kind of whistling noise then it will blow out clouds of black smoke clear itself and run perfectly , except for blowing out occasional puffs of black smoke . if you carry on driving it will be fine for however long your journey is , then if you have a short stop maybe 3 minutes but not enough for the engine to cool , and start driving again the same thing will happen , then it clears itself loads of black smoke and everything is fine, until the next time you stop . When i say stop i mean stop (ie turn off the engine for a few minutes ) sitting in traffic on idle it is fine.

can anybody suggest what this problem is most likely to be ?????
