hello all!

I have a 1984 Italian Fiat Ducato (same as Talbot) diesel.

I have had her for over a year and she was running fine but recently she has started a ticking noise when I accelerate, which doesn't go away once warm. I was not worried about it at first because it reminded me of noises that I had heard in VW Campers when I was a kid. But now, as I start to look into it, I am increasingly worried that it is something serious - there was a suggestion that it may be a problem with the Oil Tapets?

I have - perhaps belatedly - stopped running her, and am wondering how to proceed.

Any suggestions?

There was a strange smell before Christmas, when She was going up the hills in the peak district, it was a bit like Ammonia - I checked the oil and water and she seemed fine - in fact she has always been very steady on both things.

She had a new cam belt last year.

Anything else I can tell You?
