Dear Knowledgable guys

I want to replace my V8 6.2 auto diesel gmc engine 1988 with a normal engine like a cummins, perkins or anything that will the normal mechanics understand
The heads have blown, it constantly snaps old v fan belts due to rusty pulley i have tried to clean

Its a big old 1988 tiffin allegro 28ft american camper i bought about 5ish years ago for 10k, everything works perfectly apart from the damn engine
We cant use it to take the kids on holiday etc, the whole thing isnt worth anything unless its working and then only 5k etc?? but its worth more than that to me.

I dont know where to start i know a good commercial mechanics in swindon where i live but hes so busy we need the answers so i can get the engine and he ot someone else can do it

PLEASE PLEASE HELP

Cheers

Chris Sheerin, swindon
