Diesel Talk
Hey everyone!

Here's the deal: i'm taking a late 60s/early 70s VW van and dropping a new/refurbished diesel engine & tranny in it.

it's a biodiesel project, and i've got a garage and knowledgeable mechanics at my disposal

but first I have to find an engine that would be powerful enough/the right size for the VW bus.

THEN i have to get it to match up with the transmission. good thing i've got professionals backing me up. smile

i've got the engine compartment dimensions per specific bus year, but I thought I'd see if anyone had any recommendations as to how powerful the engine should be, or if there are certain diesel engines more compatable with biodiesel than others. (I am aware of the rubber parts corrosion issue and the fuel filter issue, so ideally a new diesel engine would be perfect.)

I'm also operating under a nonprofit organization, so if you (or know someone who) want to donate a new/refurbished engine, we can give you a tax write-off for it. We're about spreading the bioDiesel message and teaching others how to homebrew. We can give you links on our website or ads in our pamphlets in return for a donation.

So if anyone can point me in the right direction, I'll figure out the specifics.

thanks so much, appreciate it!

Brenna

'I had hundreds of "hits" on your website which generated 5 or 6 inquiries from all over the world; Germany, The Philippines, Korea, Sweden, and Spain. I sold all 3 of my engines to a buyer from South Korea. Your website was invaluable to me in selling these engines; no other ads that I ran produced any inquiries.'

Gary Sommerfeld, Manager, Marine Operations, Phillips Cruises & Tours, Anchorage, Alaska

'We had a Mercedes engine in stock for over a year but were unable to sell it in Belgium - it was an unusual specification for generator use. Once we listed it on DieselEngineTrader.com, we sold it to a customer in England! We get regular inquiries from customers across the world.'

Rob Verhoeven, Hamofa Engines, Belgium

'We sold 2 engines to overseas customers within the first month of listing. As soon as we list an engine, we get calls. There are lots of customers watching for engines and parts. DieselEngineTrader.com works well for us.'

Dennis Lanteigne, Marine Diesel Engines Ltd., Caraquet, Canada
