I am curious about ddec v n3, plus ddec 3 and 4,I already have 5915 in a ddec 3 just wanting a chart for comparison maybe get a little more power, sacrifice some fuel mileage . Don't need to go huge like "825" injectors looking for something in between. The ddec v stuff I haven't heard anybody talking about changeing injectors or cams in I have a couple of ddec V motors to experiment with just need to be pointed in the right direction for part numbers or injector flow.

I don't know anything about the N3 injectors, I kind of figured out the earlier ones 5915,7014 etc.

Thanks for the reply, I have read some of your other post on here it seems like you are running a ddec 3 I was wondering if that was true if you have piston squirters. I'm running a 526 cam and 5915 injectors in a non piston cooler block , I didn't see much power difference going from a stock 500 cam to the 526 cam I was thinking of running a 825 cam not sure about part number for it, don't know of anybody running one maybe they could weigh in on this, should I go with bigger cam or bigger injectors, I would like to hear what some other ddec 3 owners are running . Thanks

apparently i haven't said this enough COMBINATION COMBINATION COMBINATION,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,cam, injectors, turbo, and most important ECM program,,cast pistons no coolers i would stop at around 600 hp,your motor your call....is this a toy or daily driver,my daily driver ddec4, steel pistons piston coolers,.005 liner protrusion, and i mean .005 not .006,not.004.....526 cam,177287 BW turbo,7473 injectors cut back to 80% fuel in ecm.800 HP on the ground every day..yes i build my own motors pretty much have to so you know actual clearances..around 2000 HP in play mode short distance, sled pulling ,drag racing...i have found you can have as much HP as you can afford.i found my limit...5915=170 cc....7014=185cc.....7315=205cc....7473=215cc....825 cam 23529008......remember the injectors are manipulated in the program as well as every other aspect of how your engine performs and fuel mileage...remember the program, parts will help ,but remember those three words above....................................

Thanks grandpa, that's what I wanted to know on the injector cc's, yes it's a daily driver no I don't want to go overboard 7473 s just wanted a step up from 5915 or possible cam swap from the 526. Current set up is 5915, 526 cam , 171702 and manifold and a .15 over 500 ECM done by Erich . The motor already had 5915 injectors maybe that's why I didn't see a big difference in changing to a 526 cam the truck doesn't seem to pull any better with it, didn't know if I would have more torque (under the curve) with a 825 cam. I need it to stay together no doubt about that but that being said I do my own motor work including rebuilds and actually pay attention to my gauges . If you think that I'm at my limit for ddec 3 then I will leave it alone , like I said I'm not trying to go crazy bigger just a little better ie; if I need to change injectors under normal service should just replace with 5915 or for the same price 7014 or better . I don't mind spending money but when I do I like upgrade . Thank you

I had been running 825/850 whatever number you use, injectors for about 5 years. I stuck in the same camshaft when I overhauled the engine. 485 +15% ecm. I just recently switched to 7014s. The powerband with this camshaft is high. It does not like it under 1600-1700 rpm.

Lowerred are you running a ddec 3 without piston sprayers? If so did you have any problems with your setup, like excessive heat or burnt piston?

DDEC3, no coolers. It would get hot if I let it, but I didn't let it. It probably could have gone to 1600deg if it would have lived.

Lowered thanks for the reply, how does your truck run with 7014 compared to the 7473 was there a huge loss of power or does it pull the same?

HUGE difference. It's not stock at all, but it seems like it. LOL. I think if I go with a 500 cam and the 177287 turno, it will wake it up. This cam is huge now, and this Michigan turbo is huge too.

I felt my truck pulled better with the stock 500 cam compared to the 526 cam, maybe I'm not driving it right. Why did you switch from the 7473 was it to much? I would like more out of it , I was thinking the 825 cam would be good for my set up but maybe I should go with bigger injectors

They were getting worn out and I thought the 7014s would still be fine. I wish I would have just put the same back in.

Lowerred do you need a 500 cam? If so I have one there is no rust and it is not flaking, it's the cam the came out of my motor when i switched the 526 cam. Not sure about the number on it but I can check on it in a couple days.

Hey stump sorry about taking so long to reply I haven't been checking this thread I thought it kind of died off, I will give you the numbers tomorrow the cam is in my shop. It is a stock ddec3 and early ddec4 500 premium motor camshaft, it uses the 18mm bolt enstead of the 20 mm bolt used in most ddec4's .

Mine uses thw larger bolt too. The engine didn't originally, but the 850 made it so everything got changed.
